With the economy at a strain, as well as our purse strings, I decided that a simple gift of my homemade apple butter would be the perfect gift for all this coming holiday season.

With this in mind, I went on the prowl, searching for the most visually pleasing and well made jelly jar out there. Well, as you have guessed, I found the Leifheit jars and fell instantly in love with their shape, color, and quality. Comparing the cost with all the other kinds of canning jelly jars, Leifheit jars are a tiny bit more pricier but mannnn oh mannnn their beauty and quality makes them completely worth it!

Another thing that made these jars even more attractive to me... they come direct from Amazon, so shipping was free!

...hard to clean. I had such high hopes for these jars. They are lovely as cannng jars go do not get me wrong however, I had not taken into consideration how difficult they would be to clean. This is more my own issue than the jar's really. I did not even think about it when I bought them. That said, I would buy them again just for their looks. They make great gifting jars.

I've been using my Calphalon pan for over 2 years, as I bake bread weekly. I have had no issues with peeling, warping, or rusting. I also do not wash my pan in the dishwasher and would not recommend doing so.

I'm done with non-stick. The coating on this pan has started peeling off, just as it did with Kaiser's and Chicago Metallic's non-stick. I'm going back to tinned steel. (My experience with cake pans, including springforms, has been the same.)

I'm a size 10 for most brands. I ordered a 10 and they were too big to pretend I could work it out. I went to a shoe store in Manhattan and tried on the size 9 High Riders and they fit perfectly. The back of the size 9 boot did slightly bang into to my achilles, so not sure if it is discomfort which will eventually become unbearable; therefore, still debating if I should re-order them. I must also mention that while at the shoe store I tried on the Bogs High Classic Boot in a size 9 and it was too small for consideration, so the Bogs High Rider Boots are not true to size, it runs big.

These boots WILL keep you dry and warm. They have a leg hugging liner that seems made of the same stuff used for wet suits, and this prevents anything from spilling inside.The shaft is really tall, and I like how much they protect my lower legs as well as my feet. I definitely don't consider them inside boots by any means--they look like they're made for a barnyard, and I've tested them in that kind of setting and they're tops for that. The down side, for me anyway, is that they're difficult to take off due to the tightness of the lining, and they are difficult to walk in because the rubber is so heavy and inflexible at the ankles. I have really big calves, though, and am happy they fit at all. Also, the heavy tread on the bottom DOES make it easier to walk on the ice, but also holds onto mud and muck more than some reviewers state. I hose them off, but still a stray clod of something always manages to come inside with me.

These are the best boots imaginable for horrible outdoor conditions where you don't want to worry about them coming off in deep mud, or snow and ice falling inside, or your feet beginning to freeze as you tote bales of hay around the stable. They aren't for miles long hikes even though they do have decent arch support. As far as looks go, they are plug ugly. No getting around it. I would never wear them with a skirt, or even in a casual "lets go to the movies" scenario. That's just NOT what they do! I love them for what they are: utilitarian footwear. They are an essential tool for negotiating tough Midwest winters, as much as decent gloves and a warm coat. I purchased these happily from Amazon at an amazing price and quick delivery.
